Providence English Private School
2026 – 2027
Approved for Year 7 – Year 13Providence English Private School (PEPS) provides students with career-focused education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) that raises aspirations and enables them to transition successfully along their chosen career pathway. The school is committed to ensuring that every learner leaves PEPS equipped to become a talented, responsible professional or entrepreneur, with the self-awareness and skills to make well-informed decisions about their future.
Our objectives, in line with the UAE National Agenda's ambitions for student readiness and the school's mission to develop responsible, goal-oriented learners, are:
This policy is written to align with the following UAE regulatory frameworks and priorities, and with relevant international accreditation standards:
Career Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) refers to the planned programme of activities, counselling and information that supports students in understanding themselves, exploring their options, and making well-informed decisions about their education, training and employment pathways. PEPS recognises that career guidance is not a single event but a continuous, developmental process that should be embedded across the curriculum and reinforced at every stage of a student's journey through the school, with particular intensity from Year 10 to Year 13.
This policy applies to all students at PEPS, with age-appropriate career awareness embedded from the middle years onward and a structured, progressive careers programme delivered intensively from Year 10 to Year 13. It covers:
The Student Counsellor helps students discuss their concerns about career and educational choices, and supports them in understanding who they are and what they want from education, career and life. Students have individual sessions in which a personal analysis of their ideas, feelings and choices is undertaken, helping to assess their interests and abilities. Students are made aware of the range of career options available to them, building a deeper sense of career self-awareness, motivation and confidence. This guidance also challenges barriers to aspiration and supports students to set and reflect on personal development targets, make decisions, and plan short- and long-term career goals.
Students are given the opportunity to meet universities and educational centres from across the UAE and abroad through yearly career fairs, held both on and off campus. Attendance at off-campus fairs is, at times, the responsibility of the student and their family. These events allow students, parents and teachers to interact directly with representatives and gather information about courses, entry requirements and the admissions process at institutions around the world. Universities also visit the school to present their programmes, services, eligibility criteria, entrance exams, costs and application timelines directly to students.
Throughout the academic year, the school arranges a range of interactive workshops to equip students with the skills needed for higher education and future employment. Some workshops take place off-campus, where attendance is the responsibility of the student. Workshops may include:
Personality and aptitude assessments may also be offered to help students build a fuller awareness of their attributes, skills and values, supporting more informed career choices.
Students are involved in a variety of activities that provide an overview of working in a professional environment, including organising events, volunteering at centres supporting people of determination, and peer tutoring of younger students. Participation in extra-curricular activities such as Model United Nations, community service and internships is strongly encouraged, giving students the opportunity to develop interpersonal skills and apply them in practice. These experiences contribute to the development of well-rounded, work-ready young people equipped to succeed in their chosen careers.
PEPS provides students with good-quality information about career pathways and labour market trends that broadens their horizons and supports informed decision-making. Students are supported in developing the lifelong skill of identifying and managing their own career information needs, and teachers are encouraged to make explicit links between curriculum content and real-world career applications across all subjects.
Students in Grades 10 to 12 are provided with elective subject choices in preparation for their intended career path, supported by individual guidance from the Student Counsellor and subject teachers to ensure choices align with each student's aspirations, strengths and the entry requirements of their intended higher education pathway.
Career education is provided to all students, and provision is made to ensure that every student, including students of determination, can access career guidance appropriate to their needs. Students are encouraged and supported to follow career paths that suit their own interests, skills and strengths, and all students are offered the same range of opportunities, in line with the school's commitment to non-discrimination set out in the Behaviour & Discipline and Inclusion Policies.
Parental involvement is encouraged at every stage of the careers programme. Parents/guardians are kept up to date with career-related information, invited to attend career fairs, and offered information meetings to support their understanding of their child's options and the wider admissions landscape.
To evaluate the impact and continued relevance of its careers programme, PEPS records the higher education, training or employment destinations of its Year 13 leavers each year. This destinations data is reviewed annually by the Student Counsellor and Senior Leadership Team and used to inform improvements to the careers programme, including the relevance of workshops, the range of universities invited to career fairs, and the guidance offered to future cohorts.
Personal information shared by students and families during career counselling — including personal statements, assessment results, and information disclosed in individual sessions — is treated as confidential and handled in line with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data and the school's Data Protection Policy. Information is shared with staff, universities or external parties only with the knowledge and, where required, the consent of the student and/or their parents/guardians, except where a safeguarding concern requires disclosure in line with the Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
The school ensures that safeguarding is maintained throughout all careers-related activities:
This policy was developed, and will be reviewed annually, by the Student Counsellor and the Principal, with reference to the School Improvement Plan (SIP) to ensure it is properly monitored and implemented, or sooner if required by changes in SPEA/MOE regulation or UAE federal law.
